How did the name come about and how long have you been here?

“The name of our cafe came about as, the word and food Madeleine is such a staple in France. And is also well known to most Americans. We wanted to bring some familiarity to our customers, while also bringing the tastes of France. We opened our doors on January 2nd 2018.

What is your role at the company?

“I am the founder and owner.”

What is your favorite thing about the business?

“My favorite thing about the business is opening up our doors every day to happy customers who are excited to try our menu!”

What’s the best part about being in SB?

“The best part of being in Solana Beach is the people. The people are hands down the friendliest people you will ever meet! It’s such a melting pot of different people who all love good food and a relaxed environment in which to enjoy it.”

How do you feel your business reflects / fits in the community?

South Cedros Avenue is such a cool, artistic street and I feel that our menu and atmosphere fits right in with such interesting, adventuresome people.”

Do you know about BLOC and what we’re about?

“Being that I’m pretty new to the USA and San Diego in particular, I don’t think I know what BLOC is actually…sorry!”

Knowing more about us, is there a way for us to collaborate / work together?

“I’m not sure what collaboration your company does?”

Do you have anything exciting coming up in the future?

“We are always working on adding new items to our menu to open up our customers pallets to new tastes. We will also start opening in the evening times so our wonderful patrons can enjoy wine, French cheese and charcuterie in the moonlight.”

Did you always see yourself doing something like this?

“From my days of working at cafe’s and brasseries in Paris, Australia and Hong Kong, I always knew that I wanted to bring the food I grew up with and love the most to others who would enjoy them as well. It’s been my passion for 20 years to open up and authentic French cafe in just the right place. And we are so happy to have found beautiful Solana Beach.”

_J0A2626What was your first or most memorable job?

“One of my most memorable jobs was landing one of my first managers positions at a cafe in Sweden. It really opened up my eyes to the restaurant business and made me realize what I wanted to do in my life.”

What advice would you give your sixteen year old self?

“If I could give my 16 year old self advice it would be to travel more and take more chances in life as you only live once.”

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?

“If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life it would be French Cheese. There is nothing better that authentic French cheeses. They’re all so different and amazing and it’s something I can truly never get enough of.”
