Among our vast network of talented developers, designers, photographers, writers, consultants, and other small business owners, we noticed a sad commonality – the unfortunate feeling of working in isolation.
Bloc offers a creative home to small business owners who would otherwise be making do with a cramped cubicle, noisy coffee shop, or their kitchen table. Our flagship location is in a beautiful LEED-Silver Certified building in coastal Leucadia.
Our collaborators enjoy large, sustainable-minded drafting desks, comfy chairs, super-clean communal areas, local artwork, and creature comforts like quality coffee, tea, and filtered water. Business level wifi, a private conference room, big windows and plenty of patio space outside all contribute to a professional and creative space where people come to work on a schedule that’s right for them.
We screen applicants very carefully to protect our workplace culture, which lives somewhere between the neighborhoods of laid-back friendliness and seriously driven motivation. It’s not uncommon for people to take a break from their computer in order to check out the boutique restaurants and cafes in the neighborhood, and we can’t remember the last day someone didn’t walk down to check out the surf.
Because we care about our community, we’ve developed positive relationships with the Downtown Business Associations in our neighborhoods, and regularly host Thursday Occasional open house events with live music, tasty food, and good beer + wine.
Aside from the remarkable aesthetics, though, Bloc offers smart, creative people a chance to collaborate. Everyone seems to have their own intensely curated referral network, so we’re constantly forming short-term partnerships to provide clients with the very best products and services. It’s part of our larger vision of contributing positively in our community.
