How long have you been working at your current company and how did you get started?

Winter Woods is the business my father started 40 years ago, so you could say I’ve been working for them my whole life! It was not until recently though, that I took the plunge, quit my job, and started working for them full time. My goal is to take a stable business built by my dad, and bring it into the next generation. This primarily means getting a decent website going, adopting some more modern tools and operations, and adjusting to 40 years of changes!

Before this, I have been working in the world of Software Licensing for almost a decade. You know how whenever you install software or an app, it makes you agree to the terms and conditions? My job was to consult and enforce those terms and conditions. The most interested role I had was working at Adobe on the “Anti-Piracy” team, but mostly it is dry work. 

What’s the best part about your job?

Honest work! Winter Woods sources and sells things that grow out of the ground. Plain and simple, no bullshit. This industry tends to attract people who love beautiful and natural things, rather than ladder climbers and buzzword droppers, which is refreshing.

Favorite local place to eat?

I’m new to the area, but we went to dinner right here at Lazy Tuna in Solana Beach and had a great experience!

My dad started winter woods 40 years ago in the middle of the woods in a log cabin he built himself!

Why do you enjoy being a part of the cowork environment (at BLOC)?

Meeting like minded people. I’m new to the area so I’m hugely grateful to get some really great social interaction with brilliant people!
